The Down Low on:
Winter Hair Routine
Our how-to on keeping your hair healthy during the Winter.
This time of year, when we have the heating cranked up and the temperature of the shower hotter, the scalp can start to feel dry which in turn can lead to itching and flaking. And hair, in general, can feel more dry and brittle. Much like your skincare routine, your winter haircare regime can do with a few tweaks to help nourish and protect both the hair and scalp. It's a great time to invest in products that really nourish the scalp and add moisture to your lengths.
1. Nourish your hair
For starters, we'd recommend investing in sulphate-free shampoos as they are generally kinder on your scalp and don't strip away the natural barrier on your scalp. Our Good Life Shampoo is sulphate-free and contains Green Tea Extract, said to naturally nourish the cells of the scalp and prevent hair cell damage.
TIP: Turning the shower temperature down a little while you wash your hair will stop natural oils being stripped from the hair.
2. Treat your scalp
Take the time to treat your scalp: apply a good amount of our Spoilt For Choice Hair Oil to your scalp, dropping it through in sections, massage gently into your scalp and roots and popping on a shower cap for a while. The heat from your head, entrapped in the shower cap will warm the oil and allow it to nourish further. Leave for at least an hour if you can, wash out (we'd recommend shampooing twice) and style as normal.

3. Taming the mane
Keeping my Flyaway Kit with you on-the-go is the perfect tool to touch up the windswept look that winter weather so perfectly delivers. Use it to tame and smooth on-the-go, to combat dreaded hat hair and as an all round everyday hair hero.
In summer, leaving your hair to dry more naturally will tend to work for some of us. However, in the winter, this is a little more difficult to pull off as an already undone look combined with wind and rain can mean you arrive at your destination looking a little more disheveled than you like.
4. Smoothing the cuticle
We would definitely recommend spending just a little more time concentrating on styling this time of year, adding My Nanna's mousse and using a round brush combined with the hairdryer nozzle to smooth the cuticle before you head off for the day will mean you'll have longer lasting shine and definition to your overall look.
TIP: Now is a great time to book in for a New Year chop. Trimming away split, dry and brittle ends now will mean your overall hair health for the year will be in better shape.
