The Larry King Training Academy was proudly relaunched in August 2025 by our founders, Larry and Laura, to further their commitment of developing the next generation of exceptional hairdressers.
Designed specifically for apprentices, our weekly academy offers a structured, hands-on education that blends technical excellence with real salon experience. From foundational skills and theory to advanced cutting, colouring and styling techniques, our programme is built to nurture confidence and enhance creativity.

We offer full-time, onsite apprenticeships within our Larry King salons, where you will work towards your Hair Professional Level Two NVQ while gaining hands-on experience in a luxury salon environment.
A key part of the programme is our dedicated training every Monday at the Larry King Training Academy. Each week, our apprentices learn from different senior stylists and colourists, giving you exposure to a variety of techniques and specialist skills across cutting, colouring and styling. These focused academy days are designed to build strong technical foundations, confidence and consistency.
Throughout the rest of the week, you will continue your development on the salon floor through on-the-job training, assisting senior team members, working with clients and experiencing the pace and standards of a leading London salon.

Our Larry King Training Academy is led by Jake Unger - London Hairdresser of the Year 2025. This is an incredible education opportunity to learn and train with one of the best, every single week. The rest of our senior team rotate on their training weeks, meaning you learn a varied techniques and styles, whilst perfecting your own.
We work with Kleek Apprenticeships: the UK's leading Government approved apprenticeship training provider specialising in hairdressing. You will have contact with your NVQ provider weekly, as well as tasks to complete to stay on track.
If you have already completed your Level 2 Hair Professional NVQ, or complete it in-house with us, you will have the opportunity to progress into a Larry King Assistant role.
As an Assistant, you will begin by choosing to focus on either styling or colour, allowing you to truly perfect your craft. Working closely with our senior team, you will continue to build confidence, precision and speed, while learning more advanced techniques.
This stage of your journey is designed to prepare you for day training and, ultimately, qualifying with us as a stylist or colourist within our Larry King salons.
